I had the opportunity to do event photography for the promotors of the 2019 Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival in Columbia, Missouri this past weekend. The festival is held annually in late September at Stephens Lake Park. This year, two of my favorite performers was asked to play. Dave Alvin, along with Jimmie Dale Gilmore played a set on the Great Southern Bank stage Saturday afternoon. Dave is a Downey, California native and is the former guitarist and lead songwriter for The Blasters. Jimmie Dale Gilmore is from Lubbock, Texas and led The Flatlanders for many years. They played selections from their debut collaboration entitled “Downey to Lubbock” which is available for purchase at Bandcamp. They were gracious enough to pose for this photo before their show.
The photograph was taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV camera with a Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens at ƒ/8.0 with a 1/400-second exposure at ISO 400. The processing was done with Adobe Lightroom CC. I also used an on-camera Quantum Trio for fill flash.
