I recently made a trip to Wayne County, Missouri, and the surrounding area to do some fine art photography on behalf of DEI of Cincinnati, Ohio, for their First Midwest Bank project in Piedmont, Missouri. I’ve worked with DEI in the past and provided photos for several First Midwest Bank locations throughout the State of Missouri.

Piedmont is a unique location in the Ozarks with many shopping and travel opportunities for travelers and locals alike. One of the main attractions is Clearwater Lake and the Black RiverClearwater Lake is a reservoir on the Black River created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The lake opened in 1948 and has been a popular tourist destination ever since.

Here’s a photo of the Black River just below the Clearwater Dam. The picture was taken just before sunset during the golden hour. It shows an island on the river with a tall cumulonimbus calvus cloud in the distance. I used a Sony ILCE-7RM2 camera paired with a Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS lens. I also used a NiSi 100 x 100mm Nano IRND 3.3 Filter (11-Stop) combined with a Haida 100 x 150mm NanoPro MC Soft Edge Graduated 0.9 Filter, which enabled me to use with a longer exposure to capture movement in the clouds and to soften any ripples in the water. I shot in manual mode at ƒ/5.6 with a 30-second exposure at ISO 100. I processed the RAW file with Adobe Lightroom CC.
