Alex Povis, the art director of Feast Magazine, hired me for an editorial photography assignment at Pappo’s Pizzeria & Pub in Columbia, Missouri. She asked me to photograph the Apple-Bourbon Pulled Pork Pizza, Toasted Ravioli, Caprese Salad, and a couple of frothy beers.
The natural finish wood furniture in the bar and dining room created a warm and inviting dining atmosphere. The manager and staff were amiable and accommodating. I also had the privilege of dining on the food they prepared for the photo shoot, and it was delicious; the pizza was especially good with a chewy pan-style crust with a tangy aftertaste.
I used a 61-megapixel Sony Alpha a7R IV Mirrorless Digital Camera coupled with a Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS lens to take the photo. For lighting, I used the dependable Godox AD400Pro Witstro All-In-One Outdoor Flash and a Godox AD360II-C WITSTRO with a yellow gel. I shot in manual mode with a 1/60 second exposure at ISO 250. I processed the RAW photo with Adobe Lightroom CC.
